Report Writing for Cost Analysis / State Fiscal Reporting
Course number: RW201
Overview Participants will learn how to create reports for cost analysis and state fiscal reporting. Participants are encouraged to bring samples of reports that they need to create. Workshop time will be allotted to create some of these reports.
In order for participants to gain an in-depth understanding of the database relationships, this course focuses heavily on files and their relationship to cost analysis. Query/400, using accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger data will be taught as the reporting tool to access these files and write reports.
This course will help the participants create reports that will track units of service, including billable revenue and actual cost of service. We will instruct participants in how to extract data to analyze staff revenue to staff expense, overhead verses revenue, billable services by staff member with and without dollars, comparison of billable services to actual time sheets, revenue to expenses by functional area, or tracking uncollectible revenue.
Prerequisites Individuals should have detail knowledge of revenue and how it is tracked by their agency. They should understand how expenses are distributed throughout the agency and have a keen understanding of how they want to track these items.
Intended Audience CFO, Controllers, Senior Accountants, and MIS staff responsible for producing reports to analyze costs throughout the agency.
